* Can one still call a translation "The Holy Qur'an"?
* Is the original Arabic text of The Holy Qur'an written in prose or poetry?
* What is Al-Halal? Al-Haram?
Even lifelong Muslims do not always know the precise answers to many
common and not-so-common questions about their faith. And today, more
non-Muslims than ever before are seriously exploring the richness of
belief and practice that Islam offers.
For both groups of believers, 1,000 QUESTIONS ON ISLAM provides
succinct, accurate, and easily accessible information covering a wide
spectrum of Islamic history, beliefs, worship practices, prophetic
teachings and holy scripture.
Originally developed a decade ago as a handbook for younger students of
Islam -- and since then, translated into a number of languages -- this
first book of its kind has found a welcome place on many educated
adults' bookshelves as well.
The question-and-answer format of 1,000 QUESTIONS ON ISLAM lends itself
ideally to a variety of knowledge-testing games or contests that family
and friends can enjoy while increasing their factual knowledge. It is
just as useful to Islamic study groups and Mosque schools as an aid to
spiritual growth and theological maturity.
1,000 QUESTIONS ON ISLAM continues to fill an ssential space between
full-length scholarly volumes, and the fragmentary or incomplete
knowledge so many of us accept without question in our daily lives. As a
result, it has proven a popular choice for personal gift-giving or
presentations.
